If you are thinking of heading to Korea or will be around Seoul this month, be sure to head down to Cheonggyecheon Stream in the heart of town to check out the city's annual Lantern Festival. A favourite with locals and visitors, this 1.5km stretch of stream surrounded by towering skyscrapers downtown is lit up with brightly coloured lanterns depicting scenes from Korean history and culture. There's a bit of queueing to get down the ramp alongside the stream of lanterns, but it moves quickly and you can always find a spot along the topside to look down on the lanterns spectacle. The festival runs from 1 to 17 November and is free, so hop on down for a lovely stroll in the evening.
